Worst case, a manager or recruiter will think your technical skills have atrophied and you're going to require an even further investment in ramping up/mentoring vs. Trying to pad it with more retail experience is not going to get it to be viewed more favorably. I know my recommendations are going to introduce even more white space into your resume. Otherwise a recruiter or manager gets the sense that you were playing around with a language, software, or tool for the sake of learning or checking a box. Bullet should get into how you leveraged the implementation and tooling to accomplish a specific design aspect of the project.

Bold header should refer to the overall project/subsystem that you accomplished.

Move the date ranges to the same line as your bold headers.

You inconsistently switch between the academic requirements you're fulfilling (indexing harder on the fact that it's an obligation rather than something you really learned from or are excited about) and tools/design environments (Which is redundant with your separate skills section).

Move your Skills and Certifications to the very top, and move your education 2nd from the bottom right above Honors.

I know I still need a professional headshot for it, though. I recently revamped it so hopefully it looks more professional. I followed one of the templates posted in the subreddit but the recruiter I spoke to today kind of roasted it? Well I should say that she gave me some good advice about adding relevant courses and only including my senior design project. I am also going to post my resume for you guys to critique. Should I just try to build experience working retail or something first then give engineering a try? Or should I keep applying? I am located in the Orlando area which has a ton of competition and many people that are much more qualified than me, and relocating across the country or even across the state isn’t really an option for me at the moment due to incredibly tight finances. I suppose what I’m asking for is advice as to how I should navigate the job application process. I’d say that it did not go well to be quite honest. I actually had a call today with a recruiter and they definitely spent a lot of time questioning by lack of internship and work experience. So my biggest issue is certainly lack of experience in general. Even retail is something my resume is lacking in. I also have no internship experience or extracurriculars, and to make things worse, I have no job experience to put on my resume either. For starters, I only graduated with an overall GPA of 3.4 but engineering GPA closer to 2.9. I have found that I am not a very competitive applicant in the slightest because of several factors. in Electrical Engineering in December and am now applying for entry level positions.
